In February 1960, the Board of National Missions acted on a Presbytery report showing the need for a church in the Jupiter-Tequesta area, and on November 20, 1960, the First United Presbyterian Church was officially established with 70 members. The Rev. Harold J. Braden, a graduate of the College of Wooster in Ohio and Princeton Theological Seminary, was selected as the organizing pastor.
Services started in July at the auditorium at Salhaven (now Jonathan's Landing). Guided by Rev. Braden, on August 9, 1962 ground was broken for a church building at our present location, 482 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta. The sanctuary and fellowship hall were dedicated on February 17, 1963.
